Salvation

You are a sinner, trapped in sin. God does not want to leave you this way. He sent his Son, Jesus to die for your sins. He willingly chose to be crucified on a cross and endure the wrath of all of our sins. He then was placed in a tomb for three days before he conquered death and walked out of the grave. There are not multiple steps to be saved. The Bible says it is a gift (Ephesians 2:8-9) that is free to anyone who is willing to repent of their sins and acknowledge Jesus died on the cross for their sin (Romans 10:9-10). After salvation, it is important to let others know so you can have accountability for your decision and also be discipled and understand what it means to be a follower of Christ.

Child Dedication

Child Dedication is the opportunity for parents to bring their child before the church as a way to publicly acknowledge their desire to raise the child in the instruction of the Lord (Ephesians 6:4). This is also an affirming of the church to be part of the process of raising the child and assisting the parents as they become the primary ones who disciple their child. The church is both an accountability and prayer partner for the family.

Baptism

At Hollowell, we celebrate when believers follow the Lord’s command to be baptized. It’s a big deal and we get as many people together to celebrate as possible. Our church wants to be an encouragement to those who get baptized and be there for them on their spiritual journey. Baptism is meant for those who have accepted Jesus Christ as their Savior (Matthew 28:19-20). We practice baptism by triune immersion. This means we baptize each believer three times forward in the water. As a church, we believe immersion is the only method of baptism and is a symbol of the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus (Romans 6:3-4).

Baptism is for believers only and is not a step to complete your salvation but to identify publicly as a follower of Christ. As a church, we only baptize people who are ten years of age and older. If you desire to be baptized, contact one of our pastors and then we will set up a time to meet with you to go over baptism and what will take place.
